Investing in People

As Executive Director of the Aspire Foundation for Excentia Human Services, I often say that our donors are not just funding programs – they are investing in people. Every donation you make directly supports children and adults with developmental delays and autism, enabling them to live more independently, connect within their communities, and lead meaningful lives.

For many people, the morning routine is automatic. You probably wake up, briefly think about your day, and move from one task to the next with little effort: washing up, brushing your teeth, getting dressed, making breakfast, grabbing coffee, and heading out. Your brain plans and orders these tasks in the background, so you don’t have to consciously think through every step or manage stress to get them done.

For many people with developmental delays or autism, that same “easy” morning requires daily planning, coordination, and sensory coping that often demands extra time, tools, and support.

Many of the people we serve need visual schedules, timers, adaptive toothbrushes, special clothing, or simplified kitchen tools just to get through a morning routine. These tools can work if someone patiently breaks tasks into steps, practices them repeatedly, and adjusts for sensory needs. Your investment helps fund direct support professionals, therapists, and training programs, so individuals can learn skills such as toothbrushing, showering, and making breakfast in ways that fit their abilities and comfort.

When daily life takes less energy because the right tools and supports are in place, people have more capacity for school, work, friendships, and community activities. Your investment is the bridge that offers our staff the opportunity to provide those we serve with time, tools, and support so that everyday tasks become achievable – and that is the foundation for a more independent life.

Investing in The Aspire Foundation strengthens the programs at Excentia Human Services that move people from “barely getting through the morning” toward independence, employment, and fuller community life. I invite you to join us in investing in people, so that more of our neighbors can begin each day with dignity, confidence, and hope.
