Our History
Pronounced “x-cen-cha,” our name combines essence and excellence. Excentia reflects the unique core of every person—and our commitment to honoring that essence while empowering individuals to achieve their best. This belief drives everything we do for the people we serve and the employees who make our mission possible.
For nearly 60 years, we’ve proudly served Lancaster County, starting as PAI—“Partners in Achieving Independence”—with programs for adults with developmental disabilities. In 2013, we added children’s services through the S. June Smith Center, and in 2019 became Excentia Human Services, reflecting our lifelong commitment to inclusion and support.
Since 2024, we’ve expanded into Lebanon County and continue to grow across Pennsylvania—guided by our mission to honor each person’s essence and inspire excellence.
